So....we were at school the other night for the annual "Night of the Arts". When we were walking out after the performance to go look at some artwork, Hattie said to me, "Nolan said he brought me back something from vacation." Somewhat confused, I said, "Just you or the whole class?" Hattie said, "I don't know." A few minutes later, this Nolan (kind of a cool dude/coach's son) runs up to her and hands her this pretty little gift bag filled with silver tinsel. I don't think she knew what to think (nor does yet). Inside we found a big diamond-like jewel! (It sure beat the little flashlight that Chad Grotewold gave me for Valentine's Day in 5th grade.) I decided the best way to set the tone for this was to act like it was very normal and nice for FRIENDS to give a gift to one another and insisted she thank him. FYI...if you talk to her, we ask that you not make a big deal out of it.
So then, last night we were at Bonkers for Abe's 6th birthday (which, by the way, he is now weighing in at almost 63 lbs. and 52" tall) and Madison stands in front of Shannon and I and says, "I have something to tell you and you might freak out." "I have a boyfriend." So...Craig is 15 and a sophmore like her. Havn't met him yet but I think that it's a safe bet that when we do, Shannon will be just sitting there polishing the barrel of his Browning 30-ought-6 rifle and calmly laying out the rules.
