An Unexpected Get-a-way

Last Saturday, we decided - last minute - to take a quick trip to St. Louis on Sat. evening. Shannon's sister - Nikki - is in Barnes Jewish Hospital suffering from undiagnosed liver complications in addition to her Cystic Fibrosis. We don't know for sure how long she will be with us, so we decided to take advantage of some free time to go see her. She does not have a lot of energy and since we had the kids with us, we stayed only about an hour. Then we headed back to Chesterfield and checked into a hotel where Shannon watched baseball and the kids and I went swimming, followed my a movie and popcorn! We enjoyed the day Sunday with the St. Louis church, and afterwards, headed to the Arch. I had never been up to the top, so it was fun for all of us to experience that together. On the way home, we ate at our favorite BBQ place, Bandanas! It was a wonderful, relaxing time of family bonding. Sometimes, those impromptu family vacations turn out to be the best.
